At St John’s Meads, we believe every child deserves a Physical Education curriculum that empowers them to develop physically, emotionally, and socially, reflecting our values of love, independence, generosity, honesty, and teamwork [LIGHT].
Our PE curriculum nurtures each child’s God-given potential by providing a safe, inclusive, and inspiring environment where they build essential life skills such as resilience, cooperation, fairness, and self-confidence. It promotes physical wellbeing, fitness, and a lifelong love of sport, equipping pupils to thrive both in and beyond the classroom.
Aligned with the National Curriculum and delivered through a broad and varied programme, our PE education includes swimming, cycling [Bikability], dance, outdoor adventure, and a range of team and individual sports. Lessons are engaging and dynamic, offering opportunities for teamwork, competition, and personal challenge.
The curriculum is enriched by themed events and extracurricular activities [kick boxing, football and dance, DCAT enrich] that encourage pupils to apply their skills in authentic contexts, fostering a sense of belonging and community spirit.
Assessment is ongoing, incorporating self-reflection and teacher feedback to support each child’s growth and development. By delivering PE with care and intention, St John’s Meads cultivates confident, compassionate, and active learners who embody our values and shine as lights in their communities.
