  • Online Safety

Online safety is a key part of safeguarding at our school, in line with the latest guidance from Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE) 2025.

We are committed to helping children navigate the digital world safely and responsibly. We teach pupils how to identify online risks, including exposure to harmful content, contact with strangers, and the dangers of misinformation and disinformation. Our curriculum includes age-appropriate lessons on privacy, digital footprints, respectful communication, and how to report concerns.

KCSIE 2025 guidance emphasises the importance of robust filtering and monitoring systems which are in place at St John's Meads, ensuring our children are protected from inappropriate content while using school devices and networks.

The Designated [and deputy] Safeguarding Leads (DSLs) play a central role in overseeing online safety, ensuring staff are trained to recognise and respond to online risks, and that policies are regularly reviewed and updated.

We also work closely with parents and carers to promote safe online habits at home. By fostering open conversations and encouraging children to speak up if something online makes them feel uncomfortable, we aim to build a culture of trust and digital resilience.

Together, we can help children become confident, respectful, and safe digital citizens.
