St John's Meads has a proud educational heritage dating back to 1849, when the village’s first school opened its doors on Meads Street. This original site served the local community for many decades before eventually becoming St John’s Parish Hall, constructed in 1926. The school played a vital role in shaping the early educational landscape of the area, laying the foundation for generations of learners.

A strong link with the parish has always been central to the school’s identity. St John the Evangelist Church, consecrated in 1869, has served as the spiritual anchor for the school and the wider community. Despite suffering significant damage during a bombing in 1942, the church was faithfully rebuilt between 1955 and 1957, continuing its role as a symbol of resilience and faith in the Church of England tradition.
The current school building, located on Rowsley Road, has been the heart of Eastbourne Meads’ educational life since the turn of the 20th century. Constructed between1899 and 1910, the school has stood on this site for over a century. Its long-standing presence reflects the community’s enduring commitment to education and the development of young minds.
