Meet Our School Pets: Monty and Max

We are delighted to introduce Monty and Max, our much loved school guinea pigs! They are a very special part of our school community and are enjoyed by children and adults alike.
Caring for Monty and Max helps our pupils learn about responsibility, kindness, and respect for living things. Each class has one week every term where they take responsibility for helping to care for the guinea pigs. During their week, pupils support with age appropriate tasks such as ensuring Monty and Max have fresh food and water, checking their enclosure, and spending quiet time observing and learning about their needs.
This shared responsibility encourages teamwork and helps children understand the importance of routine, empathy, and looking after others. Staff closely supervise all care to ensure Monty and Max are happy, healthy, and well looked after at all times.
Monty and Max bring great joy to school life and provide valuable learning opportunities across the curriculum, as well as plenty of smiles!
